Rogaine hair regrowth serum is mostly used for pattern baldness also called as alopecia. It is very effective to stop excessive hair loss both in men and women. The first sign of pattern baldness if thing of hair mostly from the top or front of the head. Alopecic women may lose about 150 strands of hair daily and unluckily those hair strands will take much longer time to grow back.

The main element in Rogaine hair serum is Menoxidil which is FDA approved medication specifically used for hair loss treatment. Menoxidil belongs to the class of drugs called vasodilators which dilates blood vessels to ease blood flow. 2% or 5% menoxidil solution is significantly used to regrow hair in women and men respectively suffering from alopecia. Minoxidil was first used in 1970 for the treatment of hypertension but then it was found out that this drug is more valuable for treating alopecia. Minoxidil may arouse the growth of new hair strands by enhancing the anagen stage of the hair cycle but the exact mechanism is still unknown.

Menoxidil solution is applied to the clean scalp or affected area directly and let it dry completely. It can boost the growth of hair and prevent further hair loss. The results can be seen in about 4 to 6 months. It can be applied twice a day or as per your doctor’s advice. Menoxidil solution stops or atleast decelerate hair loss in women. It can boost hair fibers to grow again. As we know the excess of everything is bad, while there is much benefit of using this serum for hair loss, it also comes up with some cons.

  • It can be costly.
  • It can cause irritation, scorching or burning in your scalp.
  • It can grow unwanted facial hair, if you see surplus growth of facial hair it is recommended to consult your doctor as soon as possible.
  • You will not get desired results at first. You will notice more hair loss while applying this serum. This is because the old thin hair strands are pushed up by the new ones.
  • You will have to wait quite a long time for as long as 4 to 6 months to see you desired results because minoxidil takes time to grow new hair strands.

In addition the above stated side effects of minoxidil there are some serious issue regarding its use. Weakness, chest pain, unusual weight gain, or allergy are some uncommon side effects related to this serum.

Minoxidil is a drug so it can be interacted with other drugs. If you are taking this serum by your doctor’s advice it is not permissible to change its dose, and start or stop using it abruptly. If you are taking hypertensive, any dermatological medication, or any drug which interacts with alcohol then you should not start using this serum on your own. You must consult your doctor first.

It can be stored at room temperature. It is highly flammable so when you use it do not go near open flame unless the solution is completely dried up.
